Wherever you are, theres an amazing view - up to the Venetian castle, out over the picturesque harbour, or directly out to sea. THE AREA The area is stunning, and local marine life includes dolphins, which often come into the harbor, and monk seals, which hide in the sea caves. The charm of Assos lies very much in its simplicity and beautiful settings. It is a glorious harbor village with a more rastic and rural feel than Fiscardo. During your stay you will soon become part of the slow way of village life. You will be acknowledged by the locals, and made to feel particularly welcome for staying in Assos. In the evening, you can enjoy the gentle waterside tavernas in Assos, which provide a magical and romantic setting for a meal. The clean waters of the harbour at Assos provide the closest beach,or from the villa, steps lead directly down to the sea where there is a small platform with access to the water, swimming two hundred metres take you to Plakes beach. There are another couple around the headland, which are only accessible by boat. The most famous beach on Kefalonia -Myrtos- is only a ten minute drive away, and the picturesque pebble coves of the Erissos peninsula are twenty minutes away.
