The Phoenicia, the first luxury hotel in Malta, is situated in 7.5 acres of mature gardens at the entrance to Valletta, the capital city. Commanding glorious views from its elevated position overlooking the port, Mediterranean and the historic city dating back to 1566, the hotel is within walking distance of the Islands shopping and business districts, as well as the bustling restaurants and cafes of the waterfront. The impressive Parliament House building, designed by Renzo Piano, is opposite the hotel through the citys gates. The Phoenicias architectural beauty is classed as one of the sights of Malta, along with other historic buildings, such as St. Johns Co-Cathedral, the Grand Masters Palace and the Auberge de Castille. Its typical Maltese style is a striking contrast to the baroque and massive bastion walls that surround Valletta. The hotel guest rooms feature traditional Maltese tiled floors and large double-glazed windows, and the hotels two restaurants serve delectable Mediterranean cuisine in a romantic and stylish setting.
